Base Salary – $188,151 to $254,198 (pro rata for part-time). The starting salary will be negotiated based on the candidate’s experience and expertise.
Additional Allowances – Includes a Private Practice Scheme Allowance and an on-call allowance (17.4% of base salary plus Private Practice Allowance).
Superannuation – 1.5% of the base salary.

About the Hospital:
North Canberra Hospital (formerly Calvary Public Hospital Bruce) and Clare Holland House are now run and operated by Canberra Health Services (CHS)
This is a significant milestone as the ACT Government moves towards delivering a new billion-dollar hospital on Canberra’s north side.
The current North Canberra Hospital is a level 4 hospital that provides a range of acute and sub-acute services including community based care to the residents of the northside of Canberra and Southern NSW. North Canberra Hospital (NCH) is a 270 public hospital located in Canberra’s expanding northside. North Canberra Hospital operates a 24 hour Emergency Department. Inpatient services include general medicine, surgery, maternity, mental health and critical care.
Other service modalities include day surgery, specialist outpatient clinics, Hospital in the Home and the Geriatric Rapid Acute Care Evaluation service that reaches into aged care facilities across the ACT.
The new north side Hospital will be built on the existing Calvary Hospital campus in Bruce. It will be a modern, state-of-the-art hospital for patients, visitors and its workforce and will provide more beds and increased services. Until then, it’s business as usual at the NCH, and we’ll keep providing high-quality care to our patients and community.
About the role:
The Deputy Service Clinical Director will provide a high-level perioperative service within the Department of Anaesthesia, Pain Management and Perioperative Medicine, which best serves CHS and its patients, guided by current evidence based medical care and patient outcomes in the field. They will provide leadership in areas of clinical activity, service development and delivery, administration, teaching, and quality assurance and must have the ability to develop close relationships with all relevant stakeholders throughout the patient’s perioperative journey.
North Canberra Public Hospital offers procedures covering the following specialties: ophthalmology, O&G, general surgery, elective orthopaedics, urology, vascular, ENT, endoscopy and some dental and plastic surgery.
The Deputy Service Clinical Director Peri-Operative Services is responsible for:
- Provision of clinical leadership, professional supervision and support to those staff engaged in the patient’s perioperative journey.
- Management of Perioperative rosters and recruitment in conjunction with medical and nursing leadership with the Department of Anaesthetics.
- Development and management of departmental policies and procedures based on current evidence and clinical standards in consultation and in alignment with NCH and Departmental requirements.
- Promotion of perioperative services within the hospital and community.
- Providing the Director of Anaesthesia, Pain Management and Perioperative Services with regular, structured feedback on all developments and policy matters related to perioperative services at NCH.
- Maintain their own ethical and professional standards and currency of professional knowledge and practice.
- Participation in research and teaching.
- Participation in Quality and Assurance activities including contribution to complaints received by or pertaining to the peri-operative service.
Commitment
0.5-1.0 FTE position in perioperative medicine component and Anaesthesia (negotiable – can also be a shared position).

Central Victorian Anaesthetic Service is an 8-person Anaesthetic Partnership.
Our well-established practice is based in Bendigo and provides anaesthesia services to two Public and two Private Hospitals in Central Victoria. We have excellent, long standing surgical lists in private practice and excellent VMO contracts in place at Bendigo Health and Castlemaine Health. Our practice is 80% private and 20% public practice.
We are seeking a qualified FANZCA with well-rounded training and Medicare Specialist recognition who has a desire to establish a career in private practice anaesthesia in a large regional centre. We are primarily looking to recruit an Anaesthetist interested in full time clinical anaesthesia.
