Who is eligible to apply?
Under the Society’s constitution, Ordinary membership describes those who fit the following criteria:
(a) Medical practitioners registered to practice in a State or Territory of Australia who are Fellows of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists; or
(b) Medical practitioners registered to practice in a State or Territory in Australia who have completed training and hold a postgraduate qualification accepted by the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and the Society, and who have achieved specialist recognition in Australia.
Ordinary members enjoy full membership privileges, including receiving notices and journals, attending and voting at Society business meetings, and serving as Office Bearers or members of Committees and Sub-Committees.
Discounted membership rates are available for the following categories. For more information, please refer to other membership types:
- Part-time members, defined as working up to 1 full day a week (0.2 FTE)
- Ordinary members pursuing postgraduate studies in anaesthesia, intensive care, pain management, or a related discipline. The fee reduction applies only for the duration of their studies.
- Spouses or partners who are also Ordinary members of the ASA
- Members who have been with the ASA for over 30 years.
