Background
The ASA Communications Committee was established in 2006 in recognition of the importance of effective communications between the ASA, its members, governments, the public, medical organisations, and service providers.
The role of the Communications Committee is to advise the Board on all aspects of communications within the ASA.
Where appropriate, the Communications Committee is to propose standards, guidelines, and styles for the various products used by the ASA to communicate externally and internally.
Role and responsibilities
The Communications Committee plays a critical role in advising the ASA Board and Council on all communication-related matters and developing media or marketing campaigns.
While the Committee oversees the content of published material, the actual preparation remains the responsibility of the relevant Committee.
The Committee meets four times a year and works closely with the ASA staff to oversee the print and digital productions of the ASA, including the website.
Responsibilities of the Committee include:
Producing the Australian Anaesthetist magazine and other print and digital content including social media, videos and podcasts
Maintaining the ASA print and digital style guide and logo across all ASA publications
Advising on web design and content
Advising on merchandise and the online ASA shop
