Tasmanian State Chair
Dr Alice Mulcahy
Dr. Alice Mulcahy is a consultant anaesthetist in Hobart, working as a staff specialist anaesthetist at the Royal Hobart Hospital and in private practice as an affiliate with the Hobart Anaesthetic Group. She has several areas of interest including trauma, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, welfare of anaesthetists and management of blood products.
Alice completed her anaesthetics training across Tasmania and South Australia alongside a Masters of Traumatology degree, culminating in a fellowship specialising in Trauma Anaesthesia at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Initially commencing as a specialist in Adelaide, Alice returned to Hobart in 2023 where she has taken on multiple clinical lead positions.
She currently chairs the anaesthetic subcommittee at the largest private hospital in Hobart and of course has recently taken on Chair of the Tasmanian section of the ASA. Alice engages in regular medical education both at the undergraduate level and for those training towards attaining fellowship. Alice is passionate about anaesthesia as a specialty and firmly believes in the importance of independent anaesthetists having professional autonomy whilst working in a team. She enjoys the opportunity to ensure that anaesthetic viewpoints are always considered in both clinical and managerial decision making.
Outside of work, Alice is busy with her two wonderful daughters and in her spare time enjoys bushwalking, baking and cycling.
