South Australia / Northern Territory State Chair
Dr Nicole Diakomichalis
My name is Nicole Diakomichalis, and I am delighted to introduce myself as the new chair of the SA/NT ASA committee. I am passionate about medical education, spending most of my non clinical time teaching medical students, trainees, nursing staff and fellow anaesthetists. Clinically I have a particular interest in anaesthesia for ENT, trauma, and obstetrics. Outside of my professional role, I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family and attending music concerts, with a broad range of tastes from orchestral to rock. I look forward to collaborating with our members and continuing the ASA’s efforts to support and advance anaesthesia in our region.
As part of our role, we have spent some time looking at the implications of public in private work. In recent years, the increase in public in private work funded through multiparty arrangements between the government and private hospitals, has led the ASA SA/NT to consult with the national ASA EAC on the GST status of public in private work.
A brief note to our Trainees who have exams approaching – Remember that the ASA is here to support you in any way we can, whether through advice, resources or simply encouragement. You’ve worked hard to reach this point, and we are confident in your abilities. Good luck, and don’t hesitate to reach out if we can assist you in this journey.
