“A revolution in our Ambulance Service – How our ambulance men became expert paramedics, trained in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, intravenous therapy and emergency retrieval.“
Associate Professor Bob Wright was formerly Director of Intensive Care and Resuscitation at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney from 1971 and was a pioneer in many advances in his field. Amongst these was his work with others in vastly improving the skills and training of ambulance officers so that they could resuscitate patients at the roadside at the first point of care using the advanced techniques employed in the hospitals. These early interventions saved many thousands of lives and the concepts were copied around the world.
